Ok so Melbourne is hosting the Worldcon. Bugger all chance of me making that by the look of things. The flights alone for myself and the family would be crippling. So that is that.

Or is it? There is a ray of light. ALBACON!!! Michelle Drayton-Harold (Cuddles to the fans who know her) has gotten the finger out and has organised another Albacon. YAAAAAAY! This is depite her hubby saying that if she did another it was the divorce courts for them. I doubt he meant it cos he has as much fun at them as everyone else. So.... I was wondering. Should we try to get Robert involved? Possibly as a guest? Or just a random sprouty get together? Albacons have always been a real blast, and I have missed them greatly I have to say.

Let me know what you think.

http://www.albacon.org.uk/

Give em an email and find out about it too.

Not as such but google is a wonder for finding things. Try a search for Irish sci-fi cons. Who knows....

Okay, there's a student one on in Maynooth on Valentines day next month. I forget the name, but I'll find out.

P-Con is on in March in Dublin. I'm helping out, so it better be good! http://www.pcon.ie

Usually there's Mecon in Queens, Belfast in August, but they're not running this year. Hopefully they'll be back next year.

Octocon is on in Dublin in October. http://www.octocon.com

Finally the first Irish Discworld convention is on in Ennistymon in November. http://www.idwcon.org

Hope these help!

James

It's true, I've let Lostcarpark go rather stale. It's not all bad, though. I've been collaborating with a couple of people on a new site to replace it. Hopefully we'll have something ready to launch in a couple of months. I think it will be rather good when it's ready. There may be a passing resemblance to the new Golden Sprout site.

Just got an email from the delectable Cuddles from Albacon. I am to ask Robert if he still likes B52s cocktails. Apparantly she and her hubby introduced you to them. Beats the hell out of me cos I have never heard of one. Heard of the band not the cocktail though.

Anyway, I still think we should petition Cuddles to get Robert on the Ghest of Honour list. Could be a new event for the gang to go to and get drunk. WHo knows?
