I saw enough of the second episode whilst channel hopping to know that I will not go out of my way to view that full episode and tis doubtful I will suffer the rest of the 3.
That bastard child of Blade Runner and Dwarf and Last Action Hero was clearly stillborn. The gag was dead and overcooked in seconds. The scutters could have out performed the cast. It reeked in those few minutes of writers with enough material for a draft script of one episode hurriedly trying to fill the extra time...

I suspect that you'd not appreciate such a poor attempt of parody by the Dwarf team of Dwarf taking Blade Runner down the bend with it.

Dwarf was pretty poor but I did enjoy watching Blade Runner afterwards with my daughter (she's 10) and pointing out all the bits the boys from the dwarf made reference to. Can't wait till she's old enough to watch all the other films on the shelves.

We saw the remastered, directors cut, 40th revisit, bits picked up off the floor version of Blade Runner at the Electric (oldest working cinema in England) recently. It was superb.

Also, it's amazing how quickly attitudes change. I was sat there thinking "Wow! Look at all those people SMOKING!" when at the time I thought nothing of it.

As I can't watch it, tell me. Has RD gone back to the rough and ready style of the first series or is it all still smart and shiny like the later series when I stopped watching it? Also, is Kechanski still there?

Rough and shiny, I'd say.

More shiny than rough.

Kochanski was in it briefly, but only in an alternate reality.

Over all I liked the new Red Dwarf, I rather liked the story (though it wasn't especially original, it was still done in a decent way). The trouble was it just wasn't very funny. There were quite a few bits which seemed deliberatly written as straight action or drama or just something emotional, without any intention of having laughs there too.

I like the references to series 9 & 10. Maybe they'll make those & those will be funnier...

I think that's a problem with any series when they do a 'special'. To be able to extend it, it gets bogged down with character analysis and personal stuff when RD thrives on its complete superficiality. I rarely enjoy Christmas (or other) specials of any program for this reason.

Which is a problem for Doctor Who, RTD is killing it by inches when Moffat perhaps ought have been allowed to kill the Doctor off without a sentimental ending that will likely make me reach for the sick bucket.
