Roll up Roll up!

On Sunday May 3rd at 12.30pm the SciFi London event features a panel looking at Comedy & Satire in Science Fiction, starring Mr Robert "Far Fetched Fiction" Rankin, Mr Dirk "HHGTTG" Maggs, Nick "Erm, not sure what to put here" Harkaway and my good self. Exciting indeed...but wait, there is much more...

...following this tour-de-force of brainpower and giggles, we present for the very first time EVER (except that one little time we did a scene at a Sproutlore event a few years ago)...

THE BRIGHTONOMICON LIVE!!!!!!

Robert and I, plus some of the original cast will attempt to perform a whole episode of the series live on stage, with the music and some SFX thrown in for good measure. It will be an interesting affair I am sure. Now, sadly, David Warner & Rupert cannot be with us due to conflicting work commitments...but panic ye not, because Robert himself is going to be Hugo Rune, Steven Cree is going to be Rizla, I am playing the naraator and soon I will reveal which other original cast members will be popping by to help out. I am hoping to persuade Dirk Maggs to step in as well (maybe as Fangio?!)

Why are we doing this. Well, why not?! And the SciFi London people asked! And we will also be asking our lovely audience to dip into their wallets and give a little something to the Stroke Association as well (anything at all, we know times are tough!)

So spread the word, go buy tickets and come along to what should be a fabulous Sunday. It is all happening in Central London, see the following website for details:

http://tinyurl.com/clojgl

I will be back with news on who is playing who, and which ep we are doing very soon (any ideas on eps? Robert has expressed a strong preference, I have no preference)

Neil Smile

Cheers Robert, the book and words arrived today....muchos gracios Senor!

And, i can now say with certainty that the telephone booking for our Sunday May 3rd extravaganza now works. Just call the hotline and tell them you want a ticket for the Comedy & Satire in SciFi LAB (yes, Lab!) and they will be able to book you in.

The number is:

020 7451 9944

Come one, come all, and all that jazz. So far the cast for our LIVE Brightonomicon ep stands at Robert, me, Steven Cree and Ben Onwukwe. I hope a few more of the original cast will join us, or maybe some special radio world friends will take their places!

NG Smile

OK, just me again, reminding you that this coming Sunday is going to be a great Sunday indeed as Robert will be speaking at SciFi London alongside the mighty Dirk Maggs, and I'm there too (sorry about that!). At 1230 we do an hour's chat about comedy and satire in Sci Fi.

AND THEN...

It's the biggie...the opportunity for cock up galore...

The Brightonomicon LIVE - episode 7 - LIVE, yes, LIVE!

OK, so actually we are doing a script read of ep 7 (Eat Your Food Nude!) and here's who is playing who:

Hugo Rune - Robert Rankin
Narrator - Neil Gardner
Rizla - Steven Cree
Fangio - Kevin Eldon
Policeman 1 - Kevin Eldon
Policeman 2 - Ben Onwukwe
Doorman - Dave Devereux
Lazlo Woodbine - Kevin Eldon
Maitre dí - Dave Devereux
Robert Johnson - Ben Onwukwe
The Devil - Kevin Eldon
Waiter - Elliott Stein
Jimi Hendrix - Ben Onwukwe
Cabbie - Dave Devereux
Monk - Elliott Stein
Kurt Cobain - Elliott Stein

Oh yes, you read it right, that is THE Kevin Eldon and THE David Devereux...so it should be a lively old event!

Please do come along if you can manage it. You only have to book for the one event, not the whole 4 day SFL shebang. To book go to:

http://tinyurl.com/clojgl
(use the phone booking and ask for The Lab - Comedy & Satire in SciFi)

We will also be raising some cash for The Stroke Association, which is nice.

If you can't come, worry not, we'll be taking piccies and hopefully a video of the event.

Muchos gracios lovely peeps

N Smile

More info please...

Is it only £4 (for the comedy in SF panel?) I was expecting to to be a lot more for a weekend only ticket.

Is it here: http://local.google.co.uk/maps?f=q&source=s_q&hl=en&geocode=&q=apollo+cinema+west+end&sll=53.800651,-4.064941&sspn=16.052594,40.649414&ie=UTF8&ll=51.510028,-0.133542&spn=0.00412,0.009924&z=17

What else is available / not available for that booking?

Hmmm, looked into travel, way to much.

Is there gonna be anywhere to park a car for cheap or free?

Well, I was going to say that you can park anywhere in London on a Sunday on a single yellow line for free, just check the parking signs to be certain. I usually park north of Oxford Street, around Gt Titchfield St area where I know it is free.

The ticketing for SFL is split, you can buy a weekend ticket or just the ticket to the bit you really wanna go to. In our case it is a mere £4 for the Literature Lab event.

But then, as you say, the snooker is on...we'll think about you watching men playing with their balls Smile
