The new site seems a little confused about it as it also says 6 days time.

Or maybe I will be. Confused

Has it been re-animated?

To be honest I think the date on the OGS site was just a rough guess, timed to be within a few days of Issue 2 of the new magazine coming out.....

It may be that James wants to work a few more bugs out of the new site first.

We can certainly say it's on borrowed time now though...

News of this sites death could have been exagerated Very Happy
There are a few things to do yet to make sure the club doesn't get lost and that this site leads neatly to it, also we hope to lock the forum and leave it as an archive for a little while.
I'll keep you up-dated.

Softwarewise, this is an improvement on phorum (particularly with tweaks we've had for video embedding), but the phorum did have a lovely atmosphere, and I'm not sure here ever seemed as busy, but that might be the illusion of having it spead out more.

Yep, you're spot on there. With the old Phorum only having a single section, it seemed busier. I could come home from work to find a whole page or more of new & updated threads to read. This one always seemed less busy day to day, but the massive advantage of that is it makes stuff easier to follow for those people who don't get to visit every day.

With the new new one, I love the fact that it's all tied in with club membership, with a small non-member area to draw people in. Hopefully this will lead to an increase of people actually joining the club, which will lead to more funding, which will lead to bigger and better events. The future's bright, the future's orange (OK, gold).

Oh, and nice to see we just reached 20,000 posts on this forum. Not bad for just over 3 years...

Well, Ian's the boss, so when he says it's time to move, then that's what we'll do.

I intend to keep the old forum around in read-only mode as an archive, but all new posts will be in the new one.

I'd suggest starting any new threads in the new forum so you don't find your conversation suddenly cut short.

And if you haven't tried the new site yet, I suggest getting over there to have a look.

James

I hope that's how it will work. I for one joined the club after posting for a while on the forum and finding I felt at home among the residents. Newcomers now will have less contact and less of an idea of how large or active the club is. Joining will be more of a leap of faith.

It was intended that Robert would only post within the members areas of the new site forum as this is an incentive to join, having thought this through I am personally not for it and feel Robert can and should post anything anywhere and anytime he wants, it is afterall his club......

this is great news
i think that robert posting on the public forum will be
more of an incentive for people joining the club
with most of his posts you have to wonder what else
he's writing in the members forum

how long does sproutlore have left ??
